I Trust In You?

Easier said than done right? I've spoken on this subject before but it's such an important topic that it deserves several posts. It's always scary when we start a new venture in our lives. There's great excitement and hope within ourselves. We can see where we want to be and how wonderful our lives will be if we could just achieve those goals. Whether it's a new career your striving for, education, a relationship, whatever it may be, you know you want it. Even need it! But are you going to get it?

Most of us turn to our faith at this point. It may be The Blessed Mother, your favorite saint, or Jesus Himself that you turn to in prayer and ask for assistance. You may begin a novena for the intention, perhaps offer some sacrifice through penance as a way to show your sincerity, but at the end of the day, we seem to be left with our own insecurities.

"Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you." But do we truly have faith in those words? Our Lord assures us, that if we believe what we ask for will be answered, it will be so. So if we have His assurance, why the fear and doubt? Could it be that deep in our hearts and minds we don't believe?

What is it that raises doubt? Perhaps the devils demons who prowl about and whisper in our ears lead us to reluctance. Maybe it's our past experiences and not getting what we want that we remember. Maybe it's the fact that we usually rely on ourselves instead of putting our wants, needs and desires in our Lords' hands and letting Him work it out.

If a friend or loved one asked a favor of you and then doubted your ability to follow through, we'd probably be offended. We may even be hesitant to do the favor. I think it's safe to say that our Lord feels the same way when we doubt whether or not He'll come through for us.

When you approach our Lord with a request, approach Him with confidence. St. Therese, The Little Flower, was known to say, "never cease praying. Confidence works miracles." Unless it's something that would be bad for us and we don't know it; approaching our Lord with complete confidence in Him, will assuredly guarantee the fulfillment of your request.

Peace, good and blessings.
